Home projects / driveway placement

Residential dumpster rental in Columbia, SC.

Cleanouts, remodels, estates, and moving weekends. One box in the driveway, loaded on your schedule.

01 / HOME PROJECTS

One box, loaded your way.

The rental fits the project — not the other way around.

The projects we set boxes for

Whole-house and garage cleanouts. Estate clearings, where a family works through a property over days rather than an afternoon. Kitchen and bath remodels producing cabinets, tile, and drywall in waves. The pre-move purge, when a household finally decides what is not making the trip. Storm pickup after a summer system drags limbs across the yard.

Size follows the material. A single room or one bathroom tear-out fits the 15-yard box. Most whole-house work books the 20-yard box. A remodel that touches several rooms at once earns the 30-yard box. Describe the job by phone and we place it — the point of the call is to keep you from paying for steel you will not fill.

Driveway placement, done properly

A flat, firm, accessible driveway carries a roll-off without drama. What decides the drop is everything around it: the straight run the truck needs in front of the pad, the swing of the rear door behind the box, gates, low limbs, overhead wires, and where cars park while the box is down. After a stretch of Midlands rain, say so — soft ground beside the pavement is the kind of detail that matters before dispatch, not after.

Mark where you want the box and which way the door should face. Then think about the last day, not just the first: the truck path that existed at delivery has to exist at pickup.

Keep it off the street if you can

A box entirely on your own property keeps the job simple. Inside Columbia, a container in the street, on a sidewalk, or in any public right-of-way is a temporary encroachment — city approval comes before the drop, and streets the state maintains add a second SCDOT permit. The permit page covers the whole process, including the neighboring towns. If a homeowners association controls your street, ask it before planning anything outside your own lot line.

The items that need their own plan

A handful of household items cannot ride in the mixed load, and South Carolina is specific about them. Lead-acid car batteries are banned from landfills by state law. Refrigerators, freezers, and air conditioners carry a $15.00-per-unit Freon-recovery fee at Lexington County's Edmund Landfill; mattresses run $14.00 each; passenger tires are handled per tire. Electronics are their own stream — the county takes at most five per day per household. Set these aside as you load and mention them when you book. The full list lives on the load rules page.

One more Lexington County note for estate and landlord work: waste from rental properties cannot use the county's free neighborhood collection centers. It goes to the landfill and pays tipping fees — which is exactly what a quoted roll-off already accounts for.

02 / FAQ

Home rental questions, answered.

Sizing, streets, banned items, and timing.

First rental?

Call (803) 921-8473Tell us what the house needs. We handle the container logic.
What size dumpster does a three-bedroom house cleanout need?

Most whole-house cleanouts land on the 20-yard box. Furniture and household contents are bulky but light, and 20 cubic yards absorbs several rooms. If the garage, attic, and a shed are part of the job, or if a remodel is happening at the same time, the 30-yard box saves a second haul. Walk the house, then call and describe it room by room.

Can the dumpster sit on the street in front of my house?

Inside Columbia, a box in the street or any public right-of-way is a temporary encroachment that needs city approval before delivery — and a second SCDOT permit where the state maintains the road. A box entirely on your own driveway sits outside that process. If the driveway cannot take it, read our permit page before setting a date.

What do I do with paint, chemicals, and batteries during a cleanout?

Keep them out of the box. Liquid paint, fuel, solvents, and chemicals have no place in a mixed load, and South Carolina law makes it unlawful to put a lead-acid battery in any landfill. Set them aside as you work instead of burying them — a flagged load at the gate becomes your problem twice.

How long can I keep a residential dumpster?

The rental period is agreed before the box is dispatched, and the quote states the start and end. Cleanouts that run over a weekend and remodels that run over weeks are both normal — say how long the work will actually take and the terms are built around it.
