Jobsite service / C&D loads

Construction dumpster rental in Columbia, SC.

Demo, tear-offs, gut jobs, and slab work — with the load-separation math that keeps Midlands tipping fees down.

01 / C&D LOADS

Sort the load. Keep the margin.

The gate rate is decided before the truck leaves the site.

What we haul off Columbia jobsites

Interior demolition and gut jobs. Framing, sheathing, and siding offcuts from new builds and additions. Roof tear-offs. Flatwork and foundation breakout. Buildout debris from retail and office turns. The 30-yard box carries the volume phases; dense material rides the 15-yard box at a controlled fill level, because weight — not space — is the limit on concrete and masonry.

The separation math at the Edmund gate

Lexington County's Edmund Landfill prices its streams far enough apart to change how a job loads its boxes. The schedule effective July 1, 2025:

Mixed C&D debris
$35.00 / ton
Clean concrete
$28.00 / ton
Clean asphalt
$28.00 / ton
Metal
$28.00 / ton
Clean yard debris / wood waste
$28.00 / ton
Shingles, clean or mixed
$35.00 / ton
Improperly separated loads
$54.00 / ton

Read it bottom-up. The $54 rate punishes the box nobody managed. The $28 rates reward the box loaded as one material. On a demo with real concrete tonnage, a clean-loaded heavy box plus a mixed box beats one container that drags everything to the mixed rate — and dodges the penalty rate entirely. We quote the box plan around what the phases produce.

Tear-off season

Shingles tip at $35.00 per ton clean or mixed, so the tear-off box needs a weight allowance matched to the roof, not a guess. Scheduling matters too: hurricane season runs June 1 through November 30 and peaks around September 10, and when tropical remnants cross the Midlands, roofing crews and roofing boxes get busy in the same week. Book the container when you book the crew.

Placement and the right-of-way handoff

On the parcel, placement is site logistics: a straight truck path, firm ground, the door swing clear, and a route that survives material deliveries and parked trucks until the last pull. Off the parcel is a different jurisdiction. Columbia treats a container in a street, sidewalk, or any public right-of-way as a temporary encroachment requiring approval before placement, and many streets inside the city are state-maintained — those add an SCDOT encroachment permit through EPPS Next, free but mandatory, with both approvals in hand before work begins. The permit page carries the full process, contacts included. Keep the approvals with the job record and confirm changes to footprint or dates rather than improvising at the curb.

Land clearing is its own stream

State law bars municipal solid waste landfills from knowingly taking loads composed mostly of yard trash or land-clearing debris, and the county backs that with pricing — clean vegetative debris and wood waste at $28.00 per ton against $35.00 mixed. Stumps, brush, and clearing spoil stay out of the C&D box. Tell us the site has a clearing phase and we plan the streams separately.

02 / FAQ

Contractor questions, answered.

Separation, permits, land clearing, and price.

Running multiple phases?

Call (803) 921-8473We plan the box sequence against the demo, build, and cleanup phases.
Should a demo job order separate boxes for concrete?

When the concrete volume is real, yes. Clean concrete tips at $28 per ton at the Edmund Landfill against $35 for mixed C&D, and dense material needs a smaller box with a controlled fill level anyway. One heavy box loaded clean plus one mixed box usually beats a single container that turns everything into the mixed rate.

Who pulls the permit when the box sits in a Columbia street?

Columbia requires an approved Temporary Encroachment Application before anything occupies public right-of-way, and streets the state maintains add an SCDOT encroachment permit through EPPS Next. The approvals belong to the job, not to us — start with the Development Center at (803) 545-3483, and we deliver to the approved footprint.

Can land-clearing debris go in the C&D box?

Keep it separate. South Carolina law bars municipal solid waste landfills from taking loads that are mostly yard trash or land-clearing debris, and Lexington County prices clean yard debris and wood waste at $28 per ton versus $35 mixed. Stumps and brush get their own stream; the C&D box stays C&D.

How is a construction rental priced?

Address, debris type, rental period, and weight allowance — the same variables as any rental, with more weight riding on the material description. A tear-off, a gut job, and a slab load are three different quotes. Describe the phase of work and the quote states every included term.
